How to install MySQL on Linux

In this article, we are going to install MySQL on Ubuntu Linux Distribution.

1) Log on to Ubuntu Server and open Terminal

2) Type the following command in terminal

sudo apt-get instal mysql-server

Note: This requires internet connection.

3) It will ask confirmation. Type Y

4) Provide the password for user root. Default user is root.

5 Re-type the same password.

6. Process completion details.

7. Check status of mysql server by running ‘sudo service mysql status’ in shell.

root@ubuntu:/# sudo service mysql status
● mysql.service – MySQL Community Server
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/mysql.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
